Run Dun Crew was born out of the unique creative environment that is the Bluefields Sound System studio. It is the union of Bluefields’ raw local youth talents Kali Boom and Papa Bantam with international House Music DJ “Evan Rhodes”, backed by the sound of the "Rocco Caribbean Review". The album Money Tough exemplifies the struggle that musicians face living on the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua and gives you the flavor and style of its Caribbean roots. Run dun is a traditional coconut seafood stew that is the pride of the Caribbean coast. While many dancehall artists like to promote big spending and lavish style, Run Dun Crew takes a real approach calling out Hartimes, and a life where Money Tough.

One of Nicaragua’s most popular bands, Milly Majuc plays a wonderful mix of uptempo reggae/ska/rock grooves. We are truly stoked to have a band with such exciting and original sounds back to rock the Pitaya Festival Stage in 2013.

"Ojo de Buey was born in 2007 as an innocent project between friends. Since
the beginning the idea was to put together a list of songs and play them in
front of an audience. The name "Ojo de Buey" is inspired in a native seed
from Costa Rica that has a very unique shape and is carried by the locals as
a good luck charm. Fusion is probably the most important component to
describe the essence of the band. Using reggae as the foundation and
blending it in with afro caribbean, latin, rock and roll grooves and
positive lyrics, gives great freshness and movement to the band. August 9,
2010 the band recorded their first full length album in a beach house
located in Playa Herradura, Costa Rica. In March 2011, "Sabor en un tiempo
cruel" was officially released."

"Los Pantalones Calientes are a trio formed in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico. A truly international group with members from Mexico, Canada and Argentina, Los Pantalones have two missions: to Funkify your Life and get you out of your seat. Playing that jazzy funk to delight your ears and move your a**. The group boasts the talents of Pedro Cervera on drums, who was actually exiled from Argentina for being too Damn Funky. Robert Blanch, a pioneering scientist in the field of Jazzfunkology who recently won the "God Damn" award for baddest organist in Mexico, and James Sedgwick a man who smuggled his Bluesmans heart onto the space shuttle and had it return from orbit with the white hot urge to convert the heathens to the doctrine of funkism. They will be stopping in at the Pitayafest this year as part of their "En Que Pais Estamos?" tour 2013. Los Pantalones Calientes: Guaranteed to heat up your pants......Caliente! ".

Los Pobrecitos is a four piece band formed in the San Juan del Sur area that plays mostly reggae and rock´n´roll encompassing a wide range of music from Bob Marley to Cocoa Tea passing through Van Morrison and Doobie Brothers. Comprised of local and international musicians with a true passion about music and making people have a good time, Los Pobrecitos will certainly make your hips, feet and all your senses move!

Octopi, like many of the best things in life, came to be in an unexpected manner. No one really knows how or why it was born but when you feel the groove, it's clear why it is kept alive. Some say Octopi sounds like the smell of fresh coffee in the morning after a night of drinking and bad decision making, others say it sounds like the cries of the bastard child of reggae and rock n roll. The truth is that no matter how you describe it, we can all agree that it goes down smoother than a cold beer under the hot Costa Rican sun.

"Every year, the non-profit, the Barrio Planta Project (BPP), a free English and Creative Arts school in San Juan del Sur, hosts a special month-long workshop for their students with a specific theme in preparation to perform at the Pitaya Festival. In 2011, BPP focused on a Hip-Hop theme. In 2012, BPP students jammed out to a Rock and Roll theme, gearing up towards bringin' it back for this year's theme, Grease! Come out and see our star students ages 4-18 performing awesome dances to your favorite songs from the classic musical. ".
